In Congress

The memo written by House Intelligence Committee Chair, Republican Devin Nunes, got released this week and turned out to be a case of nothing. The memo was full of speculation and may even have undermined, not strengthened, Trump’s argument against Robert Mueller’s investigation. I suspect when the dust settles from the memo release, not will have changed in the investigation.

In the White House

Trump gave his State of the Union address on Tuesday to mixed reviews. Republicans applauded it. Democrats criticize it. The main takeaway was that Trump didn’t stick his foot in his mouth while speaking for a full 80 minutes. In Republican politics today, that’s what passes for a victory. Sad!

In District 2

Campaign finance reports were released this week and we’re just behind George Holding in cash on hand. Of the three Democrats in the race, we’re the only campaign that has raised enough money to seriously challenge Holding. We’re proud of the organization we’ve put together and humbled by the people who have reached out to our campaign.

On the Campaign Trail

We had a great time moving around the district this week. We were in Apex, North Raleigh, and Harnett County this week. We had a great time with the Swing Left group that’s here to help us flip NC-02.

Photo of the Week

Had a great time meeting with Swing Left national and local leaders to discuss recent developments in the fight for fair elections.
