In Congress
Congress is still trying to put together a tax reform plan that doesn’t cost them the election in 2018. They’re having trouble figuring out how to give huge tax cuts to the rich without either sticking it to the middle class or dramatically increasing the deficit. They probably need a refresher course in elementary school math.
In the White House
Former KGB agent Vladimir Putin told Trump he didn’t interfere in the US elections. Trump says he believes him. To put that into context, the President of the United States is taking the word of a former spy over the findings of his own intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
With George Holding
George Holding says he supports repealing the estate tax, which would only benefit people who inherit more than $5 million. He also says he wants to repeal the tax deduction for state and local taxes, which would raise taxes on middle class families. You can see who’s side he’s on.
In District 2
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity kicks off its 71st annual Achievement Week Observance on Sunday. N.C. Supreme Court Justice Michael Morgan is the guest speaker. According to chapter President Corey Mercer, “We seek to highlight the work of outstanding individuals who have made great contributions to our community and who are helping to make the world a better place for all to live.”
On the campaign trail
